(01) Overview
A subscription business that had outgrown its setup.
UFC Ignite sells chef-made performance meals on a recurring plan, backed by UFC Performance Institute trainers and athletes. The store originally ran on WooCommerce, a setup that worked for day one but not for where the business was heading.
We moved it to Shopify and transformed it into a more scalable commerce system. Beyond storefront design, the project required us to solve for subscription flexibility, backend stability, and operational efficiency.
(02) Challenge
Storefront design was the easy part.
The original WooCommerce setup relied on off-the-shelf subscription plugins that forced customers into rigid plans and forced the team into manual work: plan changes, skipped weeks and meal swaps all landed in a support inbox instead of the system.
Every promotion also put pressure on the backend. The platform needed to stay reliable during spikes, keep orders and fulfilment in sync, and free the team from repetitive operations.
Hover to pause(03) Approach
One system for customers, orders and operations.
We designed a customer portal that gives subscribers real control of their plan, then rebuilt the logic underneath it so that every self-service action flows straight into orders and fulfilment.
Around that core we automated the recurring operational tasks and integrated the backend systems the team already relied on, so the storefront, the subscription engine and daily operations behave as a single platform.
(What we did)
- Customer portal UX
- Plan, skip & swap flows
- Subscription logic
- Order & fulfilment sync
- Backend integrations
- Ops automation
- Conversion-focused storefront
- Performance optimization

(04) Outcome
Less manual work. A platform ready for what’s next.
Through custom portal UX, automation, and backend system integrations, we helped create a more reliable platform that reduced manual workload and supported long-term growth.
01
Unified platform
Storefront, subscriptions and operations run on one connected system instead of a patchwork of apps.
02
Self-service by default
Subscribers manage plans, skips and swaps on their own, and every change flows into fulfilment automatically.
03
Built for scale
A backend that stays stable through promotions and keeps working as the catalogue and customer base grow.
